Prominent Nigerians and Muslim Scholars would , on Sunday,July 9,2023 converge on Lagos to celebrate the foremost Islamic Eschatologist and Humanrights crusader,Professor Ishaq Lakin Akintola,who is retiring from active service of the Lagos State University (LASU) .

Addressing journalists at the headquarters of the Muslim Rights Concern(MURIC),Lagos, the Chairman of the Planning Committee ,Dr Busari Jamiu Muhammad hinted that part of activities lined up to celebrate the Islamic icon was the Retirement and Book Launch of the Autobiography of Professor Akintola .
According to him, the event would attract dignitaries from across the geopolitical zones of Nigeria .
Dr Muhammad also said that the colourful ceremony billed to hold at the COMBO Hall,LTV 8,Lagos, would also featured the confernent of awards and honours to some deserving Muslim personalities.
Top among them were the former governor of Kaduna State,Mallam Nasir El-Rufai and the former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy ,Professor Isa Ali Pantami .The duo would be respectively honoured for playing symbolic role in the nation’s political stability and exhibiting the beauty of Islam through western and Islamic education.
Mallam El-Rufai aside being an awardee is expected to give a Keynote Address at the occasion.
Two leading traditional rulers ,the Oluwo of Iwo-land and the Oniba of Ibaland in Osun and Lagos states shall also be decorated with Islamic honours.
Other awardees are ;former Commissioner in Lagos State , Dr Muiz Banire, Alhaji Sabit Sonaike and Dr Ismail Adebola Akindele.
Further more, Dr Mohammad disclosed that Professor Akintola joined the service of LASU in 1984 and shall officially bow out at the age 70 .
Other dignitaries expected at the occasion included: The governor and the Deputy governor of Lagos State ,Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Dr Obafemi Hamzat respectively, and the Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) ,Mallam Yusuf Alli.
