Roman Catholic Priest,Rev. Fr. Alfred Omoleye has urged state governors saddled with the task of distributing palliatives not to betray public trust .
The clergy also charged them to ensure that the relief package get yo the vulnerables rather than their cronies.
Omoleye gave this admonition during his sermon,tittled “Women and men of faith” during a church Mass at St. Catherine Catholic ,Church,Ikorodu,Lagos State.
He urged Nigerians not to engage in any act that can trigger violence in the country and be patient with the government.
The bishop called for unity among Nigerians, saying is through this that the country can achieve its success.
The Clergy also called on government to always listen to those who voted them into office, said this would help them to gain the trust and confidence of their citizens.
“I know people are angry,but they should control their anger. Let us trust this government,while the government should do everything possible to earn the trust of the people as well”.
Speaking on the palliatives recently released to states by federal government, Fr. Omoleye implored state government to ensure that the food items are not hoarded.
He called on Nigerians, particularly, the youths to put their trust in God and also be optimistic that the government will work for their good.
“The bags of rice and other items released to state governments should be distributed to the most vulnerable in the society. There are many people who don’t need this rice that will get, this is not fair. Let us distribute the rice to those who are mostly in need of it”.
Fr. Omoleye prayed for peace in Nigeria and around the world.
