Hon. Biodun Omoleye has outrightly rejected the outcome of the primary election conducted today across Ekiti Central Federal Constituency II, describing the exercise as deeply flawed, compromised, and a complete departure from the democratic principles the party stands for.
According to Hon. Omoleye, the election process was marred by widespread irregularities, voter suppression, and calculated acts of intimidation targeted at his supporters and loyal party members. Reports from several wards within the constituency revealed a disturbing pattern of harassment, threats, and undue interference by individuals allegedly working in favor of predetermined interests.
He expressed grave concern over the conduct of the exercise, noting that what transpired cannot be regarded as a free, fair, or credible primary election. In many polling units, genuine party members were either denied access to vote or subjected to coercion, while electoral materials and figures were allegedly manipulated to produce a predetermined outcome.
Hon. Omoleye further lamented that his supporters, who came out in large numbers to exercise their democratic rights, were intimidated and, in some cases, forcibly dispersed. Such actions, he stressed, undermine the integrity of the party and erode the confidence of members in the internal democratic process.
“This is not the democracy we advocate for. The will of the people was clearly subverted, and what we witnessed today was a coordinated effort to silence the voice of genuine party faithful,” he stated.
He called on the party leadership at all levels to urgently intervene and thoroughly investigate the irregularities that characterized the election. He emphasized that allowing such an outcome to stand would set a dangerous precedent and weaken the credibility of the party ahead of future elections.
Hon. Omoleye reaffirmed his commitment to justice, fairness, and the democratic ideals of the party, assuring his supporters that all lawful and constitutional means will be explored to challenge and overturn what he described as a “stolen mandate.”
He also urged his supporters across Ekiti Central Federal Constituency II to remain calm, peaceful, and resolute, assuring them that their mandate will not be abandoned.
“Our struggle is not just about an election; it is about protecting democracy, ensuring fairness, and upholding the voice of the people. We will not relent until justice is served,” he concluded.
