It is with a heavy heart that I received the news of the passing of Senator Tony Adeniyi, SAN, a distinguished legal luminary, statesman, and a remarkable patriot whose life was defined by service, faith and a strong commitment to justice.
Senator Adeniyi was a man of great passion for justice, integrity, and courage. His contributions to the legal profession and public service will remain a lasting testament to his dedication to building a better society. I and members of the All Progressives Congress will never forget his yeoman’s effort in our successful legal battle for the restoration of our electoral mandate through the courts.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, he was respected for his wisdom, humility, and the dignity with which he carried himself. Characters he exhibited to great deal during his time at the Nigerian Senate.
His passing is a great loss to his family, the legal community, Ekiti State, and Nigeria at large.
We have lost a rare breed whose counsel, experience, and commitment to the ideals of good governance will be deeply missed.
On behalf of my wife and the rest of our family, I extend my deepest condolences to his loved ones and all those whose lives he touched.
We take solace in the fact that his legacy of service and excellence will endure for many years to come.
May the good Lord grant his soul eternal rest and give his family the strength and comfort to bear this irreparable loss.
Dr Kayode Fayemi, former governor of Ekiti State.
