– Donates N0.6million to the union

A Chieftain of All Progressives Congress (APC) and former Senatorial aspirant for Ekiti North, Chief Segun Ajibulu, has been conferred with an Award of Excellence for his outstanding contributions to education and community development.

The award was bestowed on him by the leadership of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Moba Local Government Branch .

Speaking after receiving the award, the philanthropist said he was pleasantly surprised when informed that he would be honoured by the union, adding that while he does not seek recognition, awards such as the one presented by the teachers serve as encouragement to continue making meaningful contributions to society.

Ajibulu described the honour as both unexpected and deeply appreciated, noting that it would further motivate him to contribute to the growth of the education sector and the welfare of young people across Ekiti State.

He recalled his recent educational intervention during which he awarded scholarships to students in different parts of Ekiti State, stressing that investing in education remains one of the most effective ways of securing a brighter future for the younger generation.

As part of activities marking the occasion, Ajibulu announced a cash reward of N50,000 for the overall winner of a competition organised during the programme.

He encouraged the recipient to invest the money wisely rather than spend it frivolously, saying such support was intended to inspire excellence and self-development.

Commenting on the political situation in Ekiti State, Ajibulu congratulated Governor Biodun Oyebanji and the people of the state over a historic electoral achievement, noting that the governor’s re-election reflected the confidence of the electorate in his administration.

He observed that the outcome demonstrated the importance of responsive governance and sustained development, adding that leaders who prioritise the welfare of the people naturally earn public support.

Ajibulu further pledged his continued support for educational institutions, teachers, students and community development initiatives, assuring members of the NUT that they could always count on him whenever assistance was required.

“What happened today came as a surprise to me. When I was told that I was coming to receive an award, I was genuinely surprised. I don’t work because I want to receive awards, but when recognition comes as a result of positive impact and meaningful change, I truly appreciate it.

“Recently, I attended a programme where we awarded scholarships to some students in Ekiti State. That initiative was aimed at supporting the younger generation through education.

“To all my children here today, congratulations. You will all become great in life. I have always believed in education. Even while growing up, people would ask questions about learning and academic excellence. I remain a student because learning never ends.

“I am a teacher. I have taught students, and I have also taught teachers. Teaching is a noble profession, and I have dedicated a significant part of my life to it. That is why I have great respect for teachers and the work they do. Thank you, teachers, for your sacrifices and commitment.

“I sincerely appreciate everyone who came from different parts of Ekiti, including Ikole and other communities. I also appreciate the union members and all those who represented their various groups.

“Some people wanted to accompany us today, but because of financial constraints, only a few could make the trip. Despite the challenges, they ensured they were represented here, and I sincerely appreciate their support and commitment.

“Today, I want to encourage excellence. The person who emerges in the first position will receive ₦50,000 from me. I encourage the winner to invest the money wisely for something meaningful.

“Before I proceed further, I want to congratulate myself, everyone present here, and indeed the entire people of Ekiti State.

“Recently, for the first time in the history of Ekiti State, we witnessed a government that secured re-election for continuity in office. That is something worthy of congratulations.

“The progress we desire can only be achieved when we continue to support good leadership, encourage responsible politics, and strengthen collaboration between government, the private sector, and all stakeholders committed to protecting the interests and welfare of our people.

“We all have a role to play in ensuring the continued development of our state and our communities.

“I want to assure you that my support will always be available. Anytime you need assistance or help, do not hesitate to call me. I will always do my best to support worthy causes.

“As a token of my appreciation today, I am making a donation of ₦600,000 in support of the activities of the Nigeria Union of Teachers, Moba Local Government Branch”.
