Fuji maestro, King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate, has brokered peace between two warring leaders of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Alhaji Musiliu Akinsanya, aka MC Oluomo, and Alhaji Mustapha Adekunle, aka Tafa Sego.
K1, who intervened in his capacity as the Mayegun of Yorubaland, was said to have sued for lasting peace.
The reconciliation meeting, which took place at Ojusagbola in Ijebu, Ogun State, has finally put an end to the protracted leadership crisis that has rocked the Lagos chapter of the union for years.
The development was announced on Tuesday via K1’s digital media page on Instagram, with photos showing the three men together alongside other NURTW chieftains.
“After years of an age-long rift, MC Oluomo and Tafa Sego have finally settled their differences. And from what we know now, this is final. This time, it was not just another handshake for the cameras. The two old friends and colleagues came together at Ojusagbola, with King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal (K1) playing the peacemaker,” the post read.
The rift between the two former allies is rooted in supremacy and control of the NURTW in Lagos. Both men rose as powerful figures in the union, but disagreement over leadership structure and influence tore them apart.
The feud turned bloody in January 2019 when violence erupted at the APC campaign rally at Sky Power Ground, Ikeja, Lagos. MC Oluomo was stabbed and seriously injured in the clash reportedly involving supporters of both factions. The police later declared Tafa Sego wanted in connection with the incident. c9cf
Tension flared again on January 2, 2026, during K1’s New Year All White Party in Victoria Island, when members loyal to Tafa Sego allegedly protested after K1 publicly recognised MC Oluomo as the head of the NURTW. 4ce3
The latest reconciliation is not the first attempt to end the feud. In 2019, MC Oluomo constituted a caretaker committee that included Tafa Sego in a bid to accommodate him. In January 2024, the Lagos State Government intervened, leading to MC Oluomo’s resignation as Lagos State Chairman to assume the national presidency, while a new leadership structure was put in place in Lagos.
Traditional rulers have also intervened. In a recent effort, the Olofa of Offa, Oba Mufutau Muhammad Gbadamosi, led a reconciliation at the investiture ceremony of Alhaji Najeem Yasin as Bashorun of Offaland, where MC Oluomo publicly declared “No more rift between me and Sego”. 2991
The truce comes at a strategic time for President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections. The NURTW Lagos chapter remains one of the most potent grassroots mobilization structures for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the South-West, controlling motor parks and voter mobilization networks across the state.
A divided union would have meant a divided support base and possible voter apathy or anti-party activities. With MC Oluomo as National President and Tafa Sego as Lagos Chairman now united, political analysts believe the APC has secured a crucial bloc, ensuring unity, funding and logistics for the President’s re-election campaign.
