The President of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Alhaji Musiliu Ayinde Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo, has denied any link with a group that released a response video to the Executive Chairman of Oshodi-Isolo Local Government, Otunba Kehinde Al-Maroof-Oloyede (Kendoo).
In an official statement titled “RE: RESPONSE TO ALLEGATIONS BY THE EXECUTIVE CHAIRMAN OF OSHODI-ISOLO LOCAL GOVERNMENT,” MC Oluomo described the attempt to link him to the group as deliberate blackmail.
MC Oluomo’s statement reads in full:
“My attention has been drawn to the press release and video statements in circulation credited to the Executive Chairman of Oshodi-Isolo Local Government, Otunba Kehinde Adeola Al-Maroof-Oloyede (Kendoo), in which my name was mentioned.
For the avoidance of doubt and to set the records straight, I wish to state as follows:
*1. On The Video Recorded In China:* In the video in question, which was recorded and posted while on a trip to China, that video, voluntarily posted by the Chairman himself, naturally elicited reactions from various quarters, including transport workers and concerned party stakeholders who felt directly referenced.
*2. I Have No Relationship With Those Who Responded:* A particular group of individuals thereafter released a response video to the Chairman’s pronouncements. I wish to state categorically and unequivocally that I have no relationship with the said group, whether personal, political, or by proxy. I did not authorize them, I did not sponsor them, and I do not know them. The Chairman appears to be deliberately creating a situation and then presenting himself as the victim by dragging my name into a matter in which I have no involvement whatsoever.
*3. Independent Confirmation of No Link:* For independent confirmation, the individuals in question have themselves publicly stated, including on a Facebook post credited to one of the Chairman’s own allies, that they have never met me and that I have no link with them.
*4. I Support A Full and Transparent Investigation:* I am glad that in his release, the Chairman called on law enforcement and security agencies to investigate. I support this call wholeheartedly. I therefore call for a thorough, independent, and transparent investigation into both videos – his video from China and the response video – and urge that the findings be made public.
I also challenge the Chairman, Otunba Kehinde Al-Maroof-Oloyede, to produce within a reasonable time frame any credible evidence or material that links me to the group or to their video.
Let me be clear: The aim of the Council Chairman is to blackmail me, pull me down, and forcefully drag me into a picture where I do not belong.
Also reportedly for the procurement of 300 tricycles for his community transportation scheme, he made far-reaching pronouncements. I have no problem with the procurement of tricycles for the people of Oshodi-Isolo. However, he declared that officials of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), including those associated with my name, would be barred from imposing levies on the said tricycles.
Finally, I reassure the good people of Oshodi, the good people of Lagos, our faithful members in the All Progressives Congress (APC), and the general public that I remain fully committed to peace, order, and the unity of our great party. I have outgrown tantrums and I will not be distracted by baseless allegations.”
