The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, has cautioned serving and incoming lawmakers to thread softly over the quest for the Speakership of the 10th National Assembly.
Adamu warned lawmakers to stop addressing the Kaduna State lawmaker, Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, as the incoming Speaker of the House of Representatives in the 10th National Assembly.
The APC Leader gave the wsthing when he received Tajudeen Abbas and about 100 lawmakers-elect, at the All Progressives Congress’ National Secretariat in Abuja.
Adamu cautioned Abbas’ followers to stop addressing him as ‘Speaker’ until he is elected on June 13th.
He said, “I want to make one correction so that we will not be misrepresented. Quite a number of you have referred to Hon. Tajudeen Abbas at the Speaker. Please, stop addressing Abbas as the Speaker, he is still an aspirant. He will become a Speaker on the day of proclamation and the laws guiding the office are very clear.
He will earn the position on the day of proclamation by the President and Commander-in-Chief of the 10th National Assembly.”
