Sola POPOOLA
Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress(APC) Hon Cyril Fasuyi has said the party is committed to peaceful ,inclusive and non violence poll ahead of the February 25,2023 poll.
Fasuyi the APC candidate for Ekiti North Senatorial Distirct gave this commitment while receiving a delegation of Vote,Not Fight (VNF) and Governance Agenda for an Inclusive Nigeria(GAIN) who called at his residence in Ado-Ekiti.
The politician who was in company of two other APC National Assembly candidates, Akin Rotimi (Ekiti North One and Hon Akinlayo Kolawole Ekiti North Two) hinted that gender mainstreaming had recorded appreciable improvement under the APC administration.
Specially, Fasuyi explained that the Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji’s administration had made put women in key positions in Ekiti .
For example, the APC stalwart said the positions of the Deputy governor Secretary to the state government and Speaker of the State House of Assembly are all bring currently being occupied by women .
” Our party is gender sensitive .We are a party and government that appoints a man as Commissioner for Women’s Affairs .We have about six women candidates for the House of Assembly seats in APC .Ot is an improvement on what we have between 2018 and now .
” When you look at the SouthWest carefully, governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji has made key appointments out which three are women. The deputy governor Mrs Monisade Afuye the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaja Habibat Adubiaro and even the speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Bunmi Adelugba are all women.
Fasuyi who is also the Director General of the Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji’s Campaign Organisation for the June 18 2022 poll assured that the party would ensure peaceful atmosphere for the forthcoming elections.
“If we are voted in massively by the people of Ekiti, the first of it’s kind in the history of our polity since 1999 and our governor has not done anything to alter the equation .It means APC has nothing to fear about the 2023 General Election. Based on this,we have endorsed the peace pact and non violence electioneering.
So if we enjoyed the support of Ekiti people in the last Governorship Election and there was no violence. It won’t be wise for us now to sponsor or promote violence or brigandage. We cannot destroy the house we have built because I am confident that we also going to have land slide victory in the 2023 elections. So, I am assuring Ekiti people that the forthcoming elections would be devoid of violence.
