A prominent businessman, farmer, and philanthropist ,Alhaji Bala Sanin Kawo, from Dandume Local Government Area.of Katsina has been killed by bandits
Alhaji Bala Sanin Kawo was widely regarded as one of the most successful and influential businessmen in Northern Nigeria.
He was known for his investments in agriculture, community development projects, and extensive humanitarian work that earned him respect across the region.
According to reports, he was abducted by suspected bandits who later demanded ransom for his release.
A family source disclosed that than N500 million to the kidnappers. Despite the payment, the bandits allegedly went ahead to kill him.
His death has reignited concerns over the deteriorating security situation in parts of Northern Nigeria, where kidnapping for ransom has become a persistent threat to lives, livelihoods, and economic activities.
The incident comes barely two days after the reported killing of retired Army General Abubakar Rabe, who was also kidnapped and allegedly murdered by bandits while in captivity.
Residents and community stakeholders have called on security agencies and government authorities to intensify operations against banditry and kidnapping.
Many are demanding urgent, coordinated action to restore safety and public confidence in the affected areas.
