👑 Oba Sir Ladapo Samuel Ademola II (Alake of Egbaland) – 1948
Following the Egba Women’s Revolt led by Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti, he went into exile. In 1950, he returned to Abeokuta, was restored to the throne, and remained Alake until his death in 1962.

Deposed and exiled by the Action Group-led Western Region Government following the “Ponpo Aiyepeju” disturbances in Ota. He was accused of sympathizing with the NCNC during the political crisis.

👑 Oba Adeniran Adeyemi II (Alaafin of Oyo) – 1955
Removed by the Western Region Government following political conflict. He spent the rest of his life in exile.

👑 Oba Sir Olateru Olagbegi II (Olowo of Owo) – 1966
Deposed and exiled following the political crisis in the Western Region. After 27 years away from the throne, he was reinstated as the Olowo of Owo in 1993.

👑 Oba Oluwadare Adepoju Adesina (Deji of Akure) – 2010
Deposed by the Ondo State Government after a widely publicized assault on one of his wives. He was subsequently banished from Akure by the State Government.

👑 Oba Samuel Adebayo Adegbola Ajobo Olurin I (formerly Oba Samuel Adebayo Adegbola Akindele I) (Eleruwa of Eruwa) – 2019
Removed after the Supreme Court ruled that his selection did not comply with customary law. In 2025, he was reinstated to the throne.
Status: Dethroned by court judgment, reinstated.

Deposed by the Osun State Government following his conviction in the United States.
