FUOYE Crowns 400-Level Student, Masroor 2026 One-Day Vice Chancellor

 

A 400-level Political Science student of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE),Masroor Adeeyo has emerged as the winner of the institution’s 2026 One-Day Vice Chancellor initiative.

The annual programme, designed to promote innovation, leadership and academic excellence among students, provides the winner with the unique opportunity to experience the responsibilities of the Vice Chancellor for a day.

Speaking during the announcement, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Joshua Ogunwole, congratulated the winners and commended them for their creativity, originality and dedication throughout the selection process.

Prof. Ogunwole, who was excited, said if the society gives the young once opportunities, the sky will be there steeping stone. According to him, anything that prepares the students for tomorrow, actually excited him.

“This One-day V. C Initiative started when he was the V. C at Bowen, in Iwo, Osun State, and when he brought the idea to former V.C in FUOYE, Prof. Fasina, he embraced the idea. The first was done and here we are, the second one, by this administration, as the V.C. “Look at it, Series of Cash Prizes, Awards, and Certificates”.

Prof. Ogunwole, ask everybody to make efforts to join this kind of engagement, saying, this is how you can build your C.V.

Two others students, Oshunbunmi Elijah, first runner-up and Opeyemi Odetunde, became the second runner-up respectively. Both of them becomes Deputy V.C for the One-Day Vice Chancellor of the institution.

The first three winners won with a total scores of 240, 239 and 238, respectively, with 7 others for the top 10 students, in the final category.

The One-Day V. C Initiative 2.0, started with 51 students, who worked on five-pillars of creative writing, problems solving, Book Review, Memo Writing and Public Speaking. The students were also made to undergo community service on their own, before the final day.

Speaking with newsmen, the Central Coordinator of the One-day V.C, and a Prof. of Mass Communication, Prof. Adewumi Aderibigbe, said the students were both assessed from the university community and external assessors which started 52- days ago before the final winners emerged.

According to Prof. Aderibigbe, who is the Senior Technical Assistant to the Vice Chancellor of FUOYE, from the Directorate of Career Services, stated that the students were engaged with the technology, since the society is in the technological era and they were also tuned with the current realities of lives, on what they would expect when they gets to the larger society, which was very rigorous combining academics and the competition.

The 2026 One-Day Vice Chancellor of FUOYE, Masroor Adeeyo, said he was overwhelmed and excited for winning the initiative, and thanked everyone and all the contestants, saying providence has made them to be the subject matter of the day. “I thank all for your resources and time”.

The ceremony which was full of glamour, had many gifts presentation, including cash, laptops, phones, intellectual books, certificates for the top 10 winners, from various lectures, management, community and groups association to make the day very joyous.
