Former governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Capt. Sunday Adebomi, has congratulated Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji (BAO) on his resounding victory in the Ekiti State governorship election held last Saturday.
In a statement made available to journalists, Adebomi described Oyebanji’s re-election as a historic mandate and a clear demonstration of the confidence and trust reposed in him by the people of Ekiti State.
According to him, the overwhelming support received by the governor at the poll would further motivate him to deliver more dividends of democracy and accelerate development across the state.
Adebomi also congratulated the people of Ekiti State, APC leaders, governors elected on the platform of the APC, and former governors of the state for standing firmly behind Governor Oyebanji and contributing significantly to his electoral success.
He specifically commended members of the National Assembly, party faithful, and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for their support and commitment, which he said played a crucial role in securing the governor’s victory.
The former APC governorship aspirant urged opposition candidates, particularly those of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the African Democratic Congress (ADC), to place the interest of Ekiti State above personal and partisan considerations by embracing the olive branch extended to them by Governor Oyebanji.
Adebomi called on the PDP candidate, Dr. Wole Oluyede, and the ADC candidate, Ambassador Dare Bejide, to demonstrate sportsmanship by accepting the outcome of the election and joining hands with the governor in advancing the development of the state.
He noted that elections should not be seen as a do-or-die affair but as a democratic process aimed at promoting the collective welfare of the people.
While expressing optimism about the future of Ekiti State under Oyebanji’s continued leadership, Adebomi said he hoped the same level of support and unity displayed during the governorship election would be extended to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during the 2027 general elections.
He stressed that sustained collaboration among party leaders, members, and citizens would further strengthen democratic governance and foster greater development at both the state and national levels.
