History was made on Sunday, October 26, 2026, in Omuooke-Ekiti as the foundation stone was laid for the permanent office building of the Federal Road Safety Corps, RS8.22 Omuooke Unit Command in Ekiti State.

For almost twenty years, the Command has operated from a rented apartment, a situation that prompted the community, stakeholders and the management of the Unit Command under the supervision of the RS8.2 Ekiti Sector Command to initiate the construction of a befitting office complex.

The historic event held at Abepe Street, Omuooke/Kabba route, was led by the Sector Commander, RS8.2 Ekiti, Corps Commander Sanya Adeoye, MICLIT, FCIPURS.

According to the Command, the initiative was informed by a data-driven analysis of traffic patterns along the Omuooke/Kabba corridor, which has recorded an 80 percent increase in trailer and tanker density and commercial transit volume in the last five years.

Other dignitaries in attendance included High Chief Olubayode Shaba, the Divisional Police Officer, CSP Akinwumi Adeniran, members of the Special Marshal Unit 19, and leadership of the NURTW, Omuooke Branch.

Olomuooke of Omuooke, His Royal Majesty, Oba V.A Otitoju, in his remarks thanked the Sector Commander for the excellent job he is doing in Ekiti State, noting that his administration has brought significant infrastructural development to road safety operations in Omuooke.

The Paramount Ruler added that the renewed enforcement and community engagement drive by the Command has drastically reduced road crashes in Ekiti since last year.

In his response, Corps Commander Adeoye appreciated the Olomuooke for his consistent support to the Command and the FRSC in Ekiti State.

He assured that with the cooperation of drivers and motorists within the axis, road traffic crashes will be reduced to the barest minimum.

The project, which comes after almost 20 years of operating from a rented apartment, is aimed at scaling up traffic enforcement and community safety education along the Omuooke/Kabba corridor which has witnessed over 80% increase in trailer and tanker traffic in the last five years.

The construction of the new office is described as a critical expansion drive aimed at scaling up regional traffic enforcement, reducing road traffic crashes to the barest minimum and deepening community road safety education in Ekiti East and environs.

Stakeholders at the event described the project as a laudable step that will strengthen road safety operations along one of the busiest transit routes in the state.
