A member of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Hon Adeoye Aribasoye, has rejoiced with the governor-elect, Mr Biodun Oyebanji for sieving the judicial onslaught against him by an All Progressives Congress governorship aspirant , Mr Kayode Ojo.
Aribasoye described the Federal High Court’s dismissal of a case institued by Ojo against Oyebanjis eligibility on Thursday as a triumph of democracy over jackboot.
Aribasoye said this in reaction to the Thursday’s judgement of the court in Ado Ekiti, attesting to Oyebanji’s eligiblity to contest the June 18 governorship poll.
The lawmaker stated that the judgement had proved the naysayers wrong, who erroneously presumed that the January 27,2022 primary was rigged in Oyebanji’s favour.
The human rights lawyer branded the primary as credible and the governor-elect’s victory well deserved, saying it was a true reflection of the party members’ wish.
He said: “This judgement had again reaffirmed the fact that Hon Biodun Oyebanji was validly nominated to be standard bearer of our party during the primary.
“However, the people of this state had on June 18 spoke loudly and audibly that Biodun Oyebanji was their preferred choice by overwhelmingly voted for him over other candidates.
“The court being the bastion of democracy had against sanctioned his eligibility and we expect common sense to prevail at this point.
“I appeal to the plaintiff, Kayode Ojo, who is a respectable member of APC not to appeal the judgement, so that Oyebanji can take off the governance of the state without distraction. Moreso, there is nothing to appeal in the well considered judgement of the court.
“I have said this not for the fear of anything, but just in the overall interest of Ekiti populace”, he said.
