Aribasoye to Olajide: Your Mischief, Blackmail, Distortion Won’t Pit Me Against Babalola, Olanipekun, Others

The Chairman, Ekiti State House of Assembly Committee on Media and Publicity, Hon. Adeoye Aribasoye, has frowned at the accusation leveled against him that he was the fiercest proponent of anti-Gboyega Aribisogan in the legislature, blocking his ascendancy of the Speakership seat.

Also, the representative of Ikole constituency 2, described as spurious, phantom and irresponsible, the insinuation that he insulted Chief Afe Babalola, Wole Olanipekun and five other Senior Advocates of Nigeria, for condemning Aribisogan’s removal.

This was Aribasoye’s reaction to the published statement credited to Hon Goke Olajide, representing Efon constituency, in Ado Ekiti, on Sunday.

Olajide in is his grossly skewed and perverted statement, accused the lawmaker of being the leader and proponent of anti-Aribisogan leadership in the assembly.

He also rebuked Aribasoye, for descending heavily on the seven prominent lawyers of Ekiti extraction, for ventilating their opposition to Aribisogan’s impeachment.

But Aribasoye, who spoke with a cross section of the media during his constituency visit today, said arrogating the position collectively taken by the Assembly to an individual lawmaker, stressed the narrowness and naivety of Hon Olajide about how an organization such as the Ekiti State House of Assembly operates.

He said this is particularly regrettable with Olajide’s level of education and when it is realized that Olajide had spent over three years in the lawmaking chambers.

Aribasoye said at no time did he act solely on the matter, andhat his conduct has been above board always , insisting that whatever he must have said in respect of the issue, should be taken as hearkening to the collective decision of the Ekiti progressive lawmakers.

The lawmaker added that as a lawyer and one planning to rise to enviable heights in the profession, he could not and indeed didn’t insult any of the Senior Lawyers, as mischievously portrayed by Hon Olajide.

According to him, “It is regrettable that Olajide chose this dishonourable path of distortion and disinformation.

“Let Hon Olajide and those prodding him into taking this ignominious path identify in that statement, where I insulted the legal luminaries.

“Many joint decisions have been taken in the last three and half years, since our inauguration, of which Hon Olajide was deeply involved. Would it be right to start blaming him for being part of the decisions taken?

“The legal luminaries are our highly venerable fathers, in whom we are so much pleased. We will continue to respect their views and accord them due respect that they deserve”.

Aribasoye further advised Olajide to retrace his steps and seek the path of honour, saying; “As a first step, he should admit that he erred and seek forgiveness.

“It is Olajide that should be concerned about his place in history. He should remember how he got into the house in the first place. Some may actually find it treacherous that he took a stand against the position of the party. If he felt so strongly against the counseled position of the party, the decent path, should have been relinquishing his membership of the party and giving up his seat”

“We have a responsibility to live up to the Honorable prefixed before our names. Deceit and disloyalty should have no place in Ekiti State politics” .
