As Ekiti State marks its 30th Anniversary, a former member of the House of Representatives, Congressman Bimbo Daramola, has congratulated all Ekiti Kete home and abroad on the attainment of the historic milestone.
In a goodwill message , Daramola described the 30-year journey as a long but fulfilling one that started from a vision formed in the dream and fueled by the conviction of the forebears of the State.
“Let me congratulate everyone on the attainment of our 30th Anniversary. No doubt it’s been a long journey to this milestone from a vision formed in the dream and fueled by the conviction of our forebears,” he said.
The former lawmaker said Ekiti people owe those distinguished personalities a world of gratitude for dreaming of a State anchored on progressive growth, matching development and sustainable wellbeing of a people reputed as the only homogeneous State in Nigeria.
According to him, like all dreams, its fullness and fullest realization resides in the bowel of time, noting that dreams are fulfilled in parts, a bit at a time.
Daramola noted that while substantial progress has been made in the last thirty years, all must agree that a lot still needs to be done to fully realize the dreams of the founding fathers.
“We have a heritage of greatness, ostensibly drawn from our reputation as the state that breeds Professors, a testament to our studious nature, which inherently should make us problem solvers. How far can anyone go without knowledge if its applied.
“We are blessed naturally with good weather, land and hardworking people, so we cannot be limited and the dreams of our forebears cannot be stunted,” he stated.
The Congressman said the 30th anniversary is significant as it comes at the break of the dawn of what he described as the “connecting rod administration” – the second term of Governor Biodun Oyebanji.
He described Oyebanji’s first term as continuity with some progress, but expressed optimism that the second term will be consolidation years for more, bigger and better accomplishments.
“Governor Oyebanji therefore not only becomes the connecting rod between our heady past to the present but more importantly the springboard to launch our dear State into a new era of dizzying progress and accomplishments without let or hindrance,” Daramola said.
He congratulated Governor Oyebanji ahead of his swearing-in for a second term on October 16, and rejoiced with all Ekiti people on the anniversary.
“I want to say again Congratulations Mr Governor as you get sworn in on the 16th of October for the second term and Congratulations to all Ekiti Kete on our attainment of this milestone.
“I pray for increasing peace within our borders, one of the superlative gains from Governor Oyebanji’s first term and uncommon prosperity through our boundaries in the years to come,” he added.
Daramola wished the incoming 8th Civilian administration well, describing it as the gateway to continued development and greatness for the State in all ramifications, from physical to human, among the comity of sub-nationals.
He ended his message on a celebratory note: “Happy 30th anniversary and best wishes.
