Police Confirm Deaths, Deploy Tactical Teams As Panic Grips Owó-Ẹ̀bà Area
Tragedy struck again at the Owó-Ẹ̀bà area of Ilesa Garage, Osogbo, some hours ago when two persons were reportedly killed and four others sustained gunshot injuries during a violent attack.
Eyewitnesses said the incident, which occurred in the busy commercial hub, caused panic among residents, motorists and traders, forcing many to flee for safety and temporarily disrupting commercial activities in the area.
Local sources linked the attack to a suspected clash between rival cult groups, although the motive behind the shooting has not been officially established.
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the Osun State Police Command, SP Abiodun Ojelabi, said two persons died at the scene, while four injured victims were rescued by police operatives and rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Ojelabi identified one of the deceased as popularly known as Small Rugged, adding that the identity of the second victim was yet to be confirmed as of press time.
He said investigations have commenced into the incident, noting that the Commissioner of Police has immediately deployed tactical teams to the area and ordered a manhunt for those responsible for the attack.
Security has been beefed up in Ilesa Garage and its environs to forestall reprisal and restore normalcy.
