Pastor of the Upon Mount Zion Revival Ministry Akure, Dr Adebola Igbekele has called on Nigerians to disregard statement credited to the founder of the Latter Rain Assemby ,Pastor Tunde Bakare ,calling for arrest of church General Overseers in Nigeria .
Condemning what he termed ” unwarranted outburst” , Pastor Igbekele alleged that the fiery Lagos pastor must have been influenced by the end time spirit .
Recall that Tunde Bakare ,in a recent viral video said Nigeria cannot get it right until and unless the revolution starts from the religion centres.
Bakare, in the video specifically called for the arrest of all church General Overseers ,including himself, suggesting that they should be locked up on the excusec that they (religion leaders ) have enormous control and influence on their followers )
Speaking at the sideline of the Sunday service ,Pastor Igbekele said there was no justification for position canvassed by the fiery pastor maintaining that it would amount to sheer hypocracy for anybody to pass the buck on the church or its leaders or blamed them for the present economic woes.
Though,Igbekele said Tunde Bakare’s outburst against the church was not unexpected, as it had been foretold in the Bible as one of the signs of the hour..
Quoting from the Book of Matthew ,chapter 24 ,which says “believers will betray one another. It’s an end time spirit and it will not work. Nothing will stop the church”
Pastor Igbekele insisted that Nigerian pastors cannot be blamed for the problems facing the country.”It is an aberration, why must he attribute Nigerian problems to Pastors .Are the Pastors members of the parliament or the Executive? Or are they members of the cabinet. Are they responsible for the hike in the prices of the these commodities? Are the pastors members of the NNPC board ? or clearing agents
Quoting from the scriptures Igbekele says “If Pastor Tunde Bakare at that level is saying all these, I think he is being influenced by the doctrine of the demons and based on the Biblical injunction ,this is taken him to a familiar spirit” Igbekele asked rhetorically.
“The Bible says they speaketh lies in hypocracy. It is an extreme hypocritical statement. In Matthew 24 the Bible says “believers will betray one another. It’s an end time spirit and it will not work. Nothing will stop the church . CHURCH . Pastors are not the problem of Nigeria and I think the record must be set straight” Igbekele said
