Residents of Ado-Ekiti trooped out in their numbers on Saturday to participate in the popular BAOWALK fitness exercise initiated by a former member of the House of Representatives and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bimbo Daramola.
The 13th edition of the fitness exercise which commenced exactly 7:00am at Tosin Aluko Garage in Ajilosun took psrticiy through President Bola Tinubu’s Flyover, Housing area, Oke-Ila, Adebayo axis and terminated at the popular Fajuyi Pavilion in the heart of Ado-Ekiti.
The massive turnout effectively silenced critics and naysayers who had predicted that the wellness initiative would lose momentum following the outcome of the APC primary election.

Participants from various parts of the state converged on the streets of Ado-Ekiti in the early hours of the day, demonstrating sustained enthusiasm for the health-focused programme that has gained significant popularity among residents.
The exercise, which combines physical fitness with public engagement, saw people of different age groups trekking the designated routes amid an atmosphere of excitement and camaraderie.
Many participants described BAOWALK as more than a political initiative, noting that it has evolved into a community-driven platform promoting healthy living, social interaction, and public wellness.
Observers said the impressive turnout underscores the programme’s acceptance among residents and reflects the enduring support enjoyed by its convener despite recent political developments.
The success of the latest edition of BAOWALK has further reinforced its status as one of the most prominent wellness initiatives in Ekiti State, with participants calling for its continuity and expansion to reach more communities across the state.
Addressing the crowd who were in high spirits, Daramola noted that BAOWALK was conceived not as a political campaign tool but as a platform to raise public awareness to health and intimate them on the efforts of Governor Oyebanji in the health sector
He said “when we finished the primaries, some people said it’s all over, but here we are, doing it again. We thank God it has been successful and I say shame on them.
“The essence of the BAOWALK is to bring people together, encourage healthy lifestyles and foster a sense of community. Politics comes and goes, but initiatives that positively impact society endures”. He said
The Ekiti State APC Chairman, Barrister Sola Eleshin described the initiative as a good initiative, especially when the state is preparing for the forthcoming June 20 gubernatorial poll.
He urged residents to collect their PVCs and vote for APC in ensuring the sustainability of democratic dividends.
One of the participants participant, Anne Alex thanked Daramola for sustaining the exercise .He described the exercise as a timely reminder that good health remains the foundation for achieving personal goals.
According to her, maintaining a healthy lifestyle should not be left until health challenges arise but should become a daily habit.
