Rivers State governor, Nysome Wike has taken a swipe at the embattled National Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party(PDP),Dr Iyorchia Ayu for allegedly contributed to the fall of the party in the just concluded General Election.
Wike while fielding questions from select reporters in Portharcourt on the crisis in the PDP and outcome of the poll argued that it would be wrong and fair for either Ayu or other leaders of the party to labelled the G-5 Governors
The governor who used the ocassion to commend the Nationsl Electoral Commission (INEC) for organising a credible poll said the introduction of BVAS had reduced election violence across the country.
Though the PDP leader admitted that there were hiccups during the poll,he however charged the electoral to improve on the process for future exercise.
He maintained some members of the G-5 delivered their state for the PDP ,even when others who claimed to own the party failed woefully at the polls.
The governor also promised not to leave the PDP assured that the party would be repositioned after the poll .
” When the G-5 governors say that the principle of equity and justice must be adopted for unity of the country ,some so-called PDP leaders planted “attack dogs ” in Arise TV that Wike would be dislodged in Rivers and he would go to political oblivion after the 2023.Even Ayu was referring to us as small boys politicians.
“But with the outcome of the poll ,you can judge herself who is a small boy. Ayu couldn’t deliver his polling unit ,his ward, his local Government Senatorial District and even State .And he is bragging to be the national Chairman. Of what importance are you ,if you cannot add value to party”
On the poll,Wike warned against politicians against making wild allegations.
” It is not enough for any one to come on air and make allegation that many people were killed in Rivers .Whoever makes such allegations should come up with proof and identities of the victims.
” BVAS has reduced the level of violence of our electoral process .There has been improvement in every election in Nigeria .in every system, of we are able to identify challenges se should be able go fix them” Wike said .
