…..Hearing to Commence September 14, 2026 in Upper Area Court, Offa
The Grand Chief Imam of Offa, Sheikh Muhyidin Salman Hussein Al-Imam has sued Saheed Ishola Teyinbo known as Alfa Sunnah and Idris Okiki to Upper Area court, Offa Judicial Division, Kwara State over a viral defamatory video in circulation.
The duo of Alfa Sunnah and Okiki were served on Tuesday, 8 of September 2026 to appear before the presiding judge, Hon. A. S Abdulyekeen and the judge, Hon. J.S. Agaka in the upper area court of Offa judicial division.
Recall that Alfa Sunnah and Okiki through a podcast programme called out the prominent clerics, Chief Imam of Offa, Sheik Muhydeen Salam Hussein, Grand Mufti of Ilorin, Sheik Suleiman Faruq Onikijipa, Sheik Buhari Omo Musa and one prominent Christian cleric, Pastor Genesis, branding them as clerics in possession of oracle (IFA) insinuating the source of their wealth and influence.
The Chief Imam of Offa in accordance with the rule of law has approached the court to seek justice against defamation of character and damage to his reputation as a result of the viral clip.
According to the suit received by Salient Reporters, the case has been adjourned to September 14, 2026, for hearing.
While reacting to the case, the lead counsel to the Grand Chief Imam of Offa, Professor B.L. Ijaiya noted that it is one thing to allege and it is another to prove the allegations. He added that the highly revered Chief Imam of Offa has done the right thing to seek redress by asking the duo of Alfa Sunnah and Okiki to come out with the proof of their allegations in the court of law.
Speaking further, Prof. Ijaiya stated that defamation is a punishable offense in law and the culprits will not go unpunished to serve as a lesson to others who venture into defamation for social media trends.
Also speaking, Mohammed Abiodun described Chief Imam of Offa as a pride of Offa, pride of Kwara, pride of Nigeria, and pride of Islam.
“We are happy that the Chief Imam is taking the legal action against the culprits. Baba Imam has been using all his time to preach and propagate Islam, and we can’t just watch some miscreants tarnish the hard-earned image of our Imam and go like that. The whole world knows that their allegations are unfounded and baseless. They must face the law and serve their punishment,” he said.
