Ekiti 2026: Oyebanji Gains Strong Muslims Support For Reelection

 

The Muslim Leaders in Ekiti State have continued to express support for governor Oyebanji’s re-election, citing infrastructure development, religious harmony and inclusive governance as reasons for their endorsements.

They also expressed their commitment to work assiduously towards the re – election of the governor.

A statement by the State’s President of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs – Alhaji (Dr.) Hammed Afolabi Bakare , made available to newsmen in Ado Ekiti , the state capital after their meeting on Sunday, 3rd May, 2026 said the Muslims in Ekiti State are unanimous in their agreement at the meeting to vote en – masse for the re – election of Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji.

The group attributed its decision on the wonderful performance and inclusion of the present administration.

The supreme council affirmed that Oyebanji’s administration has been fair to the Muslim community in the state since his
assumption of office .

The religious leader who affirmed that Muslims in the state never had it so good like this before in the history of the state said many Muslims were offered political appointments while their children have also enjoyed various employment opportunities like other religious faithfuls and that they have been enjoying dividends of democracy like never before.

Alhaji Bakare commended the Governor for his developmental strides across the state and expressed the hope that he would do more if given the opportunity of the second term in office .

The NSCIA President therefore charged all and sundry to exercise their franchise in favour of BAO and tasked the Chairmen of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs at the local Government level to put strategies in place and mobilize their members massively to ensure they vote for BAO at the forthcoming governorship election to enhance his victory .

According to him, ” one good turn deserves another”.The president of the highest Islamic body in the state urged members to vote for their members seeking elective positions in order to have more representation in Government.

He prayed for the success of his deputy – Alhaji ( Barr.) Tajudeen Olutope Ahmed, aspiring to the State House of Assembly , amongst other Muslim aspirants.

In the same vein , the President General, League of Imams and Alfas , South Western , Edo and Delta States – Alhaji (Dr.) Jamiu Keulere Bello who was at the meeting, commended the magnanimity of the Governor to the Muslims in the state and charged members to get more actively involved in the electoral process to ensure the success of the Governor at the poll.

Noting that unity of purpose is a great asset towards accomplishment of goals , Alhaji Keulere urged Muslims to deepen the love that exists between them and be more united in order to achieve the task of re – electing the Governor for a second term.

The Secretary to the State Government – Alhaja ( Prof.) Abibat Adubiaro , who delivered her inaugural lecture at the Federal University of Oye last week , thanked the Ekiti Muslim Community for their support for her and the BAO – led Administration. She recalled that Governor BAO has done tremendously well for the Muslims in the state and assured them that he would do more in his second term by God’s grace .

The Chairman of the Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board in the State – Alhaji Salman Adedipe who also attended the meeting thanked Governor Oyebanji for the invaluable support given to his Board and expressed optimism about a successful Hajj exercise, adding that Ekiti Contingent to the holy land of Mecca and Medinah will be airlifted on 7th May , 2026.

The Meeting offered prayers for the greater success of Governor Oyebanji , peace and development of Ekiti State , stability and security of Nigeria and the world.
