Ekiti Lawmaker Hails Fayemi Over GCEHF Award ……Says Fayemi epitomises honour, intellect, pride to Ekiti

 

The Chairman, Ekiti State House of Assembly Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Hon. Adeoye Aribasoye, has hailed former Governor Kayode Fayemi over the award of Grand Commander, Ebonyi Hall of Fame(GCEHF) bestowed on him by the Ebonyi State Government.

The lawmaker stated that the honour further confirmed Fayemi’s exemplary qualities and knack for good governance, competence, intellectual prowess, detribalistic posture and honour in public service.

The Governor of Ebonyi State, Dave Umahi, had on, Thursday conferred GCEHF award on the former Ekiti State Chief Executive in recognition of his outstanding leadership qualities in public service and contributions to nation building.

Reacting to the honour in a statement, on Thursday, Aribasoye, praised the former governor for etching his name in gold by scoring many firsts among his peers in Nigeria.

Aribasoye described Fayemi as laying a solid foundation that is serving as a springboard for the development of the state, upon which the current Governor, Hon Biodun Oyebanji is consolidating upon.

The Lawmaker, representing Ikole constituency 2, said the fact that Fayemi was recognised outside the shores of Ekiti attested to how selfless, exemplary, ingenious, thoughtful, diligent, and outstanding he was in the delivering of democracy dividends to Ekiti citizens.

The Human Rights Lawyer, urged other leaders to learn from Fayemi and embrace the doctrine of selfless service, and come to the realization that putting the people above narrow interest attracts more benefits.

“Let me on behalf of myself and my family congratulate our leader and role model, Governor Kayode Fayemi, for garlanding his well-fitted caps with with this colourful feather.

“To us in Ekiti, governor Fayemi is a pride, and this had reverberated to a far away Ebonyi State in the SouthEast Nigeria, culminating in this award. The Former Governor had demonstrated that selfless service pays and more rewarding .

“Going into the archives and trajectory of governance, former Governor Fayemi was the first Governor to introduce the Social Security Policy for the vulnerable elderly in the country, which helped in combating poverty and shored up the life expectancy to 55 years, with Ekiti having the highest in the country then.

“He was the first to domesticate the Gender Based Violence Law, Food Bank and Village Kitchen policies and Sexual Assault Referral Centre in Nigeria, among other area where he exhibited qualitative leadership as a governor.

“Most priding of his antecedents was that, Fayemi was the first Governor of Ekiti extraction to be elected as the Chairman of the Nigeria’s Governors Forum, thereby bolstering our rating and recognition in national politics.

“We appreciate the governor of Ebonyi State, Engr Dave Umahi for counting one of the strong political forces in our dear state worthy of being adorned with this lofty honour.

“We are proud of Governor Fayemi for laying a solid foundation for our amiable governor, Biodun Oyebanji to build upon and catapult our fortunes to an enviable height .

“We have started having the inklings and feelings that the good deeds sowed by Fayemi will be thoroughly watered and nurtured to attract dividends to Ekiti under the current Biodun Oyebanji’s government”.
