Former member of the House of Representatives, Hon Bimbo Daramola (alias congressman) has charged Ekiti electorates,particularly those in Oye/Ikole Federal Constituency, to avoid putting the State in an avoidable disadvantage position ahead of the 2023 General election.
He specifically urged the electorates to look beyond party sentiment and loyalty, but go for the candidate with with records,who can make impact on their lives and the constituents.
Daramola who running for the Ekiti North Federal Constituency One on the platform of the Social Democratic Party(SDP) gave this admonition while flagging his campaign in Oye Local Government.
The interactions afforded Daramola the opportunity to outline what God had enabled him to do over the past eleven years , before,during and after leaving position.
With current economic realities,Daramola warned that it would dangerous and inexcusable for anyone to gamble with his ot her vote .
Speaking at the Palace of the Onire of Ire-Ekiti, the SDP candidate posited that the sure way for the people of the Constituency to enjoy quality representation is by making informed decision and elect candidate with cognate knowledge and experience in the act of lawmaking.
He therefore urged Ekiti people to take a cue from other part of the country where the community always encourage and support their best to return to power and represent them .
The former legislator who was accorded a warm reception by the Onire- in -Council and his kinsmen promised to reenact quality representation if given the opportunity to return to the Green Chamber.
Congressman Daramola said his scorecard was in the heart of Ekiti people and nit on the billboards .
He therefore enjoined the electorates to vet the credentials of candidates seeking their votes and go for the best .
Outlining some of his achievements,Daramola disclose d that he was able to secure federal appointments for not less 48 graduates in the federal constituency between 2011-2015.
Daramola said; “I am here to thank you because you have always been supporting me. When I was in the House of Representatives, I built an hospital here. I will do more if elected in 2023.
“This hospital has rescued many people from untimely death. I learnt over 100 babies had been delivered there safe and sound.
“The politics we play now revolves around development. I beg you , don’t think about party. Anybody can canvass for votes, but not everybody will get your votes. I know I will do better and I will be more beneficial as a second term lawmaker”.
Daramola said he will bring back several intervention and empowerment programmes in the areas of education, health and job creation if elected.
Conveying the message of endorsement to the former federal Parliamentarian, the Onire of Ire -Ekiti, Oba Victor Bobade, said the town will benefit immensely if Daramola is voted for in 2023.
“This race is a done deal. We are going to deliver a bulk votes for you. Whether you are a politician or not, you have been an accomplished person. Look at the hospital you built for us. He was the one who worked for Onire’s restoration to First Class grade.
“Our people have resolved to vote for you and nothing will change this. You have been there and we didn’t regret it”
Expressing his joy Daramola said ” It’s was ectasic and electrifying as Kabiyesi and his council recounted what God enabled us to do when we were in position as the representative of the people, from the restoration of the stool of his fore fathers to the normal position as a First Class Kabiyesi, after two decades or more.
“To aligning with the revamping efforts to get our burnt brick factory back up and running, to several Jobs placements for many of our young people without forgetting the 32 bed hospital, which today has also been designated as a centre for screening of our women for cancer!
“Kabiyesi asked a question that touched me, he said if the hospital was not there in the first place, can anyone designate a personal house for cancer screening ?
We received all the kind words with all humility and a pledge to do more with the support from home, which Kabiyesi in council said we already earned. Humbling moments.
The meeting ended with prayers by Asaba of Ire and Eyelaje, for protection, preservation and provision and ultimately victory at the election come February
Daramola later met the leaders and elders of the party as customary and imperative.
Similarly, the Ire- Ekiti Youth President, Oluwole Ajayi, disclosed that members of the ruling All Progressives Congress and the People’s Democratic Party have decided to embrace the SDP candidate for him to emerge victorious.
“We gained nothing from what we did for APC candidate in the last poll. We are going to vote for you this time because of your impressive performance in the past as a federal lawmaker”.
The SDP candidate also met Oye who had waited for hours, “again in their kindness they showed us great understanding, they said they waited because of our track record and the assurance that comes with it over promises without back up evidences. ” Daramola said
