Multi talented politician and chieftain of the Social Democratic Party (SDP),congressman Bimbo Daramola has admonished the electorates, particularly, those in Ekiti North to use their Permanent Voters Cards wisely during the forthcoming elections and never allow any individual or group intimidate to voting against their conscience.
Daramola, the SDP Candidate for Oye/ Ikole Federal Constituency in the 2023 General ,while featuring on a live Radio programme at Fresh FM ,Ado-Ekiti explained that ” PVC is a double edged sword.May I also advise the people not to sell their votes for ANY AMOUNT. Ask yourselves how far did they go with all the money given in past elections to buy their votes? “
The House of Representatives hopeful, who argued that experience and track record should be major yardstick for electing people into leadership positions also challenge other contestants to a debate.
He reiterated that his achievements ,in and out of office was not only undeniable but unmatched.
The candidate for Ekiti North Federal Constituency One said he was not just a regular politician but desirous of re-enacting a robust and more impactful representation at the Green Chamber, if given the mandate.
“Yeah, I have changed Party but I didn’t change my Heart . That same heart that produced ABOMIRE 1, 2 and 3 is same heart I still carry about, it’s ready to do more and faster.
” When I brought Ekiti State Students to the National Assembly to be recognised on the floor of the Green Chamber as part of my mentorship program, their parents’ parties didn’t matter. That was a feat never undertaken by any Legislator before and after then.
“In any event, political parties are mere vehicles for electoral contests. Party loyalty itself is a trap, let anyone tell me that party membership or party identification cards have been demanded before accessing treatment at the hospital I talked about. Those young people sending job placement requests don’t have to be member of my Party to get placement.
“Sugar and Salt may look alike but the difference between “òsèlú” and “ojelu” is as huge and wide as the disparity between the two condiments. I am different, separate and distinct from deceitful Politicians, he said.
Daramola ,who used the ocassion to again outlined some of his achievements said “when I had the gracious mandate to represent the good people of Oye and Ikole LGAs in 2011-1015, my vision and determination was to make my Constituency the envy of other Constituencies, to God’s glory, it was fulfilled and that’s been modest. The records are there; undeniable, unmatched.
With that rare privilege, we got jobs for about sixty (60) people, by the grace of God, and another fourteen (14) more thereafter making it a total of seventy four (74) people into the Federal Civil Service. At Itapaji where I just bagged a Chieftaincy title, the Kabiyesi told me “there’s NO single indigene of his Community in Government employment”, I plan to change that story.
Between 2017-2018, we gave out 2,050 JAMB Forms to Ekiti Students some of who are Doctors, Engineers etc today while many are in different levels of completion. We had given about a thousand before then because there’s no way I could have known that 7-8 thousand Naira could stand against a great future and a life with prospects. I make bold to say that NO Government has given such number till date.
The 32 Bed W.H.O standard Hospital that we built and handed to Ekiti State Health Management Board is saving lives, reducing infant mortality as well as bringing quality healthcare nearer to our people. That’s another testament of promise kept.
“Imagine, I had two Cars yet I gave sixty four (64) Cars to Constituents to improve their social status and self esteem. 64 CARS, not Tomtom o!
On core legislative duties, I moved forty (40) motions and presented fourteen (14) petitions and NONE of them failed.
“Some people have said I was able to do all that because I was a Representative whereas, before I got to the House of Assembly, I had got Communication Mast to Ara Ekiti and Ipao Ekiti where residents have had to climb mountains in search of network and connections. This is verifiable.
“Whoever is contesting this position and unable to clearly state what they have done in their previous jobs do not deserve the position. Without sounding immodest ,I am better positioned to deliver more, bigger and faster” .Daramola reiterated.
Congressman therefore urged the people of Oye/ Ikole to be resolute and take informed decision at the poll .”We can use our PVC to change our destinies, it can equally work against us should we collect money for vote on the eve of or during election. It’s a common refrain among Ekiti people that “singing a song twice is an indication of their love for the TRUTH in its message”. Daramola warned
