A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress(APC) lawmaker in the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Hon Adeoye Aribasoye has assured Ekiti people that the incoming administration of Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji would sustain the tempo of religion harmony in the State.
The lawmaker ,in a statement made available to journalists in Ado Ekiti, on Monday, identified unity as the major strength of any nation or society, assuring that Oyebanji’s policy trust would centre around fairness and inclusion .
Aribasoye, who is representing Ikole constituency 2, stressed that Oyebanji will work hard to unite all ethnic and religious entities, and would straighten all rough edges that could ignite crisis to impact positively on people’s lives, rather than embarking on segregation.
He said just like his predecessor , Governor Kayode Fayemi, had resisted ethnic and religious cards in leadership, that the governor-elect would sustain the bond of unity that has kept the state intact and making it rated the most peaceful state in the country.
The Human Rights Lawyer, clarified that the progressive party in Ekiti had a rich history of uniting the citizens since the days of Otunba Niyi Adebayo to the current Kayode Fayemi leadership, saying Oyebanji would consolidate on that strength and use it as a springboard for radical development of the state.
He said Oyebanji is desirous of engaging every brain and assimilate useful advice that can energise the spate of development, and that every religion and ethnic group would be taken as co-pilot in the dream of making Ekiti soars higher on the development ladder.
The Lawmaker assured that all the ethnic nationalities in the country would benefit from the well-encapsulated 6-point agenda of the incoming goverment, saying the non-indigenes have nothing to fear .
“The dingdongs and hoopla being elicited by proponents of religious and ethnic politics are becoming troubling and raising serious concern about our shaky togetherness and all lovers of this nation must condemn this act.
“Politicians now whip up sentiments to get sympathies, but Nigerians are wiser and they are ready to vote without bias for ethnicity and religion in 2023, this is the only way we can get the best to lead us at all levels of government.
“Let me say this with emphasy, in Ekiti, no room for sectionalism. We are together and we have strong leadership that abhors this.
“Both indigenes and non indigenes, Muslims and their Christain brothers are being accommodated to drive development, particularly under the present government of Dr Kayode Fayemi.
“Many non-indigenes, including Non-Yorubas were appointed by Governor Fayemi as Special Assistants, Senior Special Assistants and as Directors as well as Executive Secretaries in the State Civil Service under which Biodun Oyebanji was the Secretary to the State Government that issued their appointment letters.
“With this, Oyebanji knows the value of inclusion. In his projected human capital development policy, Oyebanji said good number of productive and intended resident, particularly youth population will be empowered economically to contribute to the growth of the economy. He didn’t say only Christains or Muslims or Ekiti indigenes .
“APC is a party for all Nigerians and the leadership in Ekiti is circumspect of this fact, and they are keeping it faithfully in the overall interest of the populace”, Aribasoye said.
