I had thought I would be able to make it to the conference today to join men and women of like minds to make a decision about the direction and height that our beloved association should go as that decision will be made by fellow distinguished old students today.
Tried as much as I possibly could, it’s turned out that I will not be able to most regrettable.
But necessity has laid it upon me to also put in a word for a perfect person to take over the position from our distinguished outgoing Global President in person of Dr Dipo Bamisaye, a very perfect gentleman uniquely in his own stock and variant.
Global President Dipo Bamisaye led the body with a lot of distinction and wisdom, managed the association without a grunt or rancour from any quarter while his tenure lasted, under him as President the profile of the body got sheen buffered with a lot if lustre and attracted many as the honey pot would to bees.
The Association and by extension the University began to get a new outlook that’s matching with that of other great citadels of learning all over the world.
With the plane of the association flying at this altitude and stabilizing above any form of turbulence, now it’s time to switch Pilots for the connnecting flight to the next height and destination a prelude to a great flying experience for all of us who are members.
It is with this consciousness that I have the greatest respect and a sense of duty to most sincerely appreciate everyone who had worked with the outgoing leadership under Dipo Bamisaye, all of whom history will judge right, to put a fitting hand in place to succeed them.
Today we are standing at this juncture of another phase of the new chapter of our body, and it’ becomes expedient that we put a hand that fits into the gloves most perfectly for this new level of our flight
I have known Seyi for almost twenty years and his pedigree has gone ahead of him , beyond coming from such a remarkable background, he is a perfect example of “ bi a bini ko da bi ka tun ra eni bi”… that indeed is who he is, respectful, profound, progressive minded, intelligent, for him urban is not just a name, it is also by nature, just as he is also urbane , he has the cosmopolitan outlook l, presence and understanding that this position needs and require.
While I have profound respect for anybody who also may be interested in this position but as may be unknown to me, without let or hindrance, granted what I know about Seyi and the consistency of his ennobling character as a person over the same period, I am most unwavering in my choice of this perfect gentlemen’s gentleman for the position of our association’s next Global President, a position that we believe will move not only the association forward but indeed add incredible benefits to enhance the global standing of our great institution.
Seyi Urban will get the job done
I urge everyone to support him . Wishing the delegates on ground a fruitful time out there.
