First Female Registrar Charges Doctors To Treat Patients With Dignity, Respect ,As New Set of ABUAD Doctors Inducted

The first female Registrar of the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCNl),Professor Prof. Fatima Kyari has charges medical practitioners to always treat their patients with dignity and respect.

The medical expert gave this admonition during the induction of a new set of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery, MBBS, at  the  Afe Babalola University, in Ado-Ekiti (ABUAD) .
Speaking at the induction  ceremony held at the popular  Alfa Belgore Hall in ABUAD , the MDCN’s  Registrar , Prof. Fatima Kyari charged the inductees to be   kind ,  treat their   patient  with respect  and leave nobody behind,.

23 medical graduating students made distinctions which include: Oluwatosin Motajo (7 distinctions), Bumiyo Ojogbane (5) and Benedict Orina (5), with all the twenty-three outstanding students awarded with the sum of N100,000 each.
Prof. Kyari also urged the new medical practitioners to strive hard  and contribute their quotas  in mproving  the healthcare sector in Nigeria.Kyari, who  first female Registrar of MDCN, urged the doctors to respect their seniors, teachers and the people in the society while discharging their duties to the people.

“We believe in the health sector renewal team in Nigeria, you must be kind, treat your  patient  with respect  and leave nobody behind, as the world of healthcare is not an easy thing”

In his address   the ABUAD’s Founder , Aare Afe Babalola, SAN, appealed to government to increase the salaries of Doctors and ensure prompt payment of all their entitlement to improve the health sectors in the country.

Aare Babalola, noted that the reason  many Nigerians Doctors and Nurses leave the country immediately after completing their training is because of poor emoluments paid in naira, which he argued  is much less than what cleaners earn  in hospitals in overseas .

The legal icon equally lamented the non payment of Doctors salaries in some states and government hospitals.

He congratulated the newly Qualified Doctors and  encouraged them not to lose hope in Nigeria, but that Nigeria will be better, saying they must be industrious and follow the medical rules in the treatment if the patients.

The Guest Speaker, Prof. Ikeoluwapo Ajayi, of the University of Ibadan, who spoke on “Purpose and Excellence”, urged the new medical practitioners to be resilience, have integrity and be professional in their approach in their new calling.

Prof. Ajayi, pointed out that the doctors should date to dream and take action, let purpose guide their path and Excellence to define their journey and be guided by their faith in the medical profession.

The Vice Chacellor , Prof. Smaranda Olarinde, called on the medical doctors to provide reassurance and therapeutic comfort for their patients.

She commended the Registrar of MDCN, Prof. Kyari, for her leadership, passion for excellence and her pivotal role in shaping the medical and dental education in Nigeria.
