A member House of Representatives, Hon. Femi Bamisile, has hailed the Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji for launching the state to the top of the table in States’ Fiscal Transparency table in Nigeria.
Bamisile, the Chairman, House Committee on Delegated Legislation, said the rating was a loud confirmation that Gov Oyebanji is leading a government that is prudent, disciplined and insulated from corruption.
A ranking conducted by the BudgIT Foundation for the Q4 2024 States Fiscal Transparency League Table, rated Ekiti as topping the table among the 36 states of the federation .
In the report, BudgIT scored Ekiti 100 out of 100 in its ratings and placed the state at the topmost tier of the fiscal transparency index in the country.
Bamisile, who is representing Ekiti South Federal Constituency II in the Green Chamber, gave the commendation in a statement issued in Abuja and made available to journalists in Ado Ekiti, on Sunday,
Expressing delight on the favourable ranking, Bamisile stated that the report of the foundation, gave Ekiti a clean bill of health in budget approval, quarterly BIR, 2023 audited financial statements, Accountant-General’s Reports, E-Procurement Portal, and State Website Data Accessibility.
The federal lawmaker remarked that most exhilarating was the fact that Ekiti was also ranked first in both Q2 and Q3 of 2024, and second in Q1, thereby establishing its consistency as a compliant state.
He added that the rating was a reflection of Gov. Oyebanji’s commitment to fiscal discipline and open governance, saying this was was a validation of transparency, accountability, and responsible governance under the current administration.
Bamisile called on those holding pivotal positions in government to key into the fiscal discipline and responsibility focus of the current administration to be able to deliver on its electioneering promises.
“Let me congratulate Governor Biodun Oyebanji on this well deserved ranking. Though, the massive infrastructures and human development strides in road, flyover, employment generation, international airport , sports complex , international cultural centre, among other initiatives, were areas where Gov Oyebanji’s government has demonstrated fiscal responsibility and discipline.
“I am hoping that those holding positions of authorities will consistently align with this dream and strides intended to banish corruption from our land. Corruption-free governance remains the only hope of the masses.
“That is the only way by which our people can enjoy the expected dividends of democracy. Pervasive corruption and self serving governance only favours a few privileged individuals.
“I congratulate Ekiti people on this rating and urge them to continue to give solid support to this government to achieve its cardinal objectives of raising the standards of living of the common citizens”, he said.
