Recall that Bago ,during acceptance speech promised to run an open media friendly and all inclusive government as soon as he assume office
The Governor-elect further pledged to run an all inclusive and open government where no one would be given preferential treatment over another, adding that he would create a fair and equitable society that will benefit every citizen.
Bago of the All Progressives Congress(APC) garnered 469, 896 votes to defeat his closest challenger, Hon . Isah Liman Kantigi of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who scored 387, 476 votes.
The Labour party Candidate, Mr Joshua Bawa came a distant third position with 3, 415 votes while, Ibrahim Yahaya of the New Nigeria Peoples Party(NNPP) came fourth with 3, 378 votes.The APC Governorship candidate won in 21 out of the 25 local government Areas of Niger State, while his PDP Counterpart won in four council areas namely Edati, Mokwa, Lavun and Gbako local government Areas.
