Severe flooding has been reported across Ado-Ekiti and surrounding communities following heavy and sustained rainfall, with most bridges currently overflowing and major routes impassable.
The flooding has left many motorcyclists, drivers, and pedestrians stranded at various points in the capital city, raising serious safety concerns.
A risk advisory has warned residents against attempting to cross flooded bridges, noting that water depth and current strength are often underestimated and can be extremely dangerous.
“If your loved ones are still outside, please check on them immediately,” the alert stated. Residents are advised to stay where they are if it is safer, avoid rushing home through flooded routes, and prioritize personal safety above all else.
