How Muslim Girl  Gets Seven US Universities’ Doctorate Scholarships 


A Muslim lady and Higher Diploma graduate from the  Ilaro Polytechnic,Ogun State,Islamiyat Ojelade, is currently trending on the internet for getting scholarship offers from seven different universities  in the United States of America(USA)  for  her doctorate Degree.
Miss Ojelade, rubbishes Nigeria’s BSc-HND dichotomy, settles for Florida State University, Ph.D Scholarship in a rare feat for HND holders who haven’t gone through a master’s course + Names of seven  top US Varsities that offered her fully funded Ph.D Scholarships
Recall that, Miss Ojelade emerged  the overall Best Graduating Student at the Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro with an outstanding CGPA of 3.89 on a scale of 4.0,
A post she made on LinkedIn says she has accepted one of the offers and is preparing to start her studies at the Florida State University, Tallahassee, Florida, USA.

A rare feat for HND holders Ordinarinarily, it would be thought that Islamiyat must have to go through a master’s, or pre-masters course before climbing the academic ladder, especially with the HND/Degree dichotomy in Nigeria.

But it is amazing that the scholarships are for PhD, straight from HND. Her story has gathered a lot of attention on LinkedIn where she shared it.

Considering the dichotomy between HND and BSc in Nigeria, I was scared and confused on what next to do after my undergraduate studies.

“I am so elated to inform you all that I will be starting my PhD program in Chemistry at the Florida State University, Tallahassee, Florida, USA this Fall, having received full scholarships from 7 universities in the United States of America with my Higher National Diploma in Science Laboratory Technology (Chemistry Major).”

The schools she got offers from are Florida State University, University of Massachusetts Armherst, University of Kansas, University of Kentucky, University of North Texas, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and Marquette University.

Meanwhile   Tolu Odebiyi Foundation funded by the Senator representing Ogun West Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Sen. Tolu Odebiyi has praised one of its own from Olopo’s compound Ibese, Yewa North Local Government Area of Ogun State, the industrious, diligent and disciplined TOD ambassador, Miss Islamiyat Ojelade over her remarkable exploit in securing seven (7) PhD offers in top Universities in the United States of America.
In an official message to celebrate her, the foundation writes to celebrate Miss Ojelade on her remarkable feat and commend her for her unwavering passion for academic, research and leadership as well as the tremendous roles she played in mentoring the TOD scholars. The foundation is extremely proud of her for this great feat.
Also commending the brilliant, young and erudite TOD ambassador, Senator Tolu Odebiyi further said, “The magnificent stride you have recorded has clearly distinguished you as an exceptional scholar. We celebrate your outstanding achievement”.
Recall that, after emerging as the overall Best Graduating Student at the Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro with an outstanding CGPA of 3.89 on a scale of 4.0, Miss Ojelade was given automatic employment by Sen. Odebiyi as she resumed at the office of Sen. Tolu Odebiyi at the National Assembly where she served as his legislative secretary.
Miss Islamiyat Ojelade is also Nigeria Ambassador of Junior Chamber International (JCI).
