The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has raised the alarm over threat messages being sent to the victim of the Salah Day Attack in Iseyin,Alfa Abdul Azeez Sulaiman, asking him to withdraw the case .
Alfa Suleiman and his two wives were victims of the brutal attack launched from a church opposite their house on Salah day, 16th June, 2024.
Addressing journalists at MURIC Headquarters, Iba ,Lagos , Professor Ishaq Akintola, the group”s Executive Director, disclosed that the Islamic Humanrights organisation finds it mandatory to inform the general public about the ugly development.
Though, the case is presently before a magistrate court, the Islamic Humanrights group said that the issue of threat should not be taken with levity .
“We hereby make it known to all and sundry, particularly the security agencies, that Pastor Stephen Kolawole and his soldier son, Damilola Stephen, should be held responsible if anything untoward should happen to Alfa Abdul Azeez Sulaiman, his two wives and any member of his family.
“We will therefore avoid discussing the nitty gritties of the case because that will be subjudice. The court has adjourned the case till 27th September, 2024 for possible amicable settlement between the parties so that the matter will not snowball into a religious crisis.
Distinguished brothers and sisters, gentlemen of the press, the main victim of the Salah Day attack, Alfa Abdul Azeez Sulaiman, has been receiving threat calls on telephone after the appearance in court. This is why we are here today.
It is important to note that this issue of threat to the victim is a recent development and we find it mandatory to inform the general public. They are threatening him on phone.
They are asking him to withdraw the case from the court otherwise something unpalatable would happen to him.
“However, we convened this press conference because a new and dangerous development which requires urgent attention before the next sitting of the court in September has surfaced. We will be abdicating our responsibility as an Islamic human rights organization which is expected to protect Allah-given fundamental human rights of the victims if we keep quiet in spite of the latest development.
We appeal to Muslims in Iseyin town in particular and Oyo State in general to remain peaceful, calm and law abiding.
