Islamic New  Year 1446 A.H.: Supreme Council Admonishes Muslims To Be  Good Ambassadors In Politics, Leadership 

The Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (SCIA) Ekiti State Chapter has tasked muslims to be shining lights and good Ambassadors of the Islam in whatever place or position they  may find themselves.
The  President of the Council – Alhaji ( Dr) Hameed Bakare gave this admonition in his new Islamic year  message to the Muslim ummah in Ekiti .
Addressing the Imams ,  leaders and representatives of Muslims across all the local government areas in the state  at Iropora Ekiti ,Dr  Bakare charged Muslims across the state to take more active parts in grassroots politics in order to have more Muslims in key elective and appointive positions to better the lots of Muslims in the State.
The council commended the Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji – led State Government for improved performance in the extension of the dividends of democracy to Muslim faithfuls in the state at the recently celebrated Eidel Adha .
 Bakare,who used the occasion  to  express  delight on  the Sallah gifts from the State Government to Imams and other Muslim leaders at the last Eidel Adha festival was better than before,  also  urged the Government to do more as there are more rooms for improvement .
The leader of the highest Islamic Body in the State also applauded the State Government for various life – impacting programmes and populist policies being implemented for the benefit of the Ekiti citizenry and assured the Government of its continuous unalloyed support and prayers towards the success of the BAO Administration.
The Council congratulated six brothers and sisters from the community who were recently elevated to the rank of Professor in the Ekiti State University , Ado Ekiti (EKSU) , and two others , in the rank of the Associate Professor at the Bamidele Olumilua University of Education , Science and Technology , Ikere  Ekiti ( BOUESTI ) and EKSU . It expressed delight at the positive development and wished them more success in their academic careers and future endeavours.
The president of the Council urged them to continue to be a shining light and good Ambassador of the Islamic religion. He equally charged the younger ones to emulate the good example of these trail blazers by being hardworking and committed in their studies and other chosen endeavours .
The Council reiterated the dearth of Islamic / Arabic Teachers at both Primary and Secondary schools across the State and pleaded with the Government to recruit these categories of Teachers in order to fill the identified gaps.
The Apex Islamic Organ in the State congratulated the newly Turbanned Chief Imam of Awo Ekiti – Alhaji Abdul Fatah Aleem, the newly appointed Iya Sunnah of Are – Ekiti and other members of the Ekiti Muslim Community who have added new feathers to their caps in recent times . The Council wished them a good and peaceful tenure of office.
A delegation of the Council , after the meeting , visited and offered prayers for the families of the late Chief Imams of Iropora and Igede Ekiti – both in the Irepodun / Ifelodun Local Government Area of the State .
The council  congratulated  Muslims on the occasion of the new Hijrah year that commenced today as they were urged to attend the Hijrah celebration programme , as organized by the National Council of Muslim Youths Organization ( NACOMYO) , Ekiti State Chapter.
The event , which has been scheduled for 10am on Sunday, 14th July, 2024 at the Fajuyi Pavilion, Okesa , Ado Ekiti will have the Governor of Ekiti State – His Excellency, Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, former Governor of Osun State – Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola , and Senator Abdul Ganiy Babafemi Ojudu amongst several others , in attendance.
The Council thanked the League of Imams and Alfas in Ekiti State for its cooperation and support , and acknowledged the peace reigning amongst Muslims in the State and urged its sustenance , to engender greater progress, development and prosperity .
Prayers were offered for the peace and progress of members , People and Government of Ekiti State, Nigeria and the world at large .
