The immediate past Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for honouring Benue people with the appointment of one of its illustrious sons ,George Akume as the Secretary to the Government of the Federation
Ortom,in his congratulatory message signed by his media aide, Terver Akase, said ” the appointment of Senator Akume is a well deserved one and described the former governor as a seasoned administrator whose wealth of experience will add immense value to the present administration.
Akume who lost the 2019 election to one of his men in the Peoples Democratic Party, Senator Orke Jev, was later appointed a minister under former President, Major General (Retd.), Muhammadu Buhari’s regime.
He commended President Tinubu for honouring Benue by appointing a son of the state to the exalted position of SGF.
“His Excellency, Ortom prays for God’s guidance to enable Senator Akume serve the country diligently and successfully,” the statement reads in part
Recall that Ortom in 2019 after Akume lost his bid to return to the senate boasted that he had retired Akume, his former leader from politics.
