Kano Governor’s Sack : Police Impose 24hours Curfew As Tension Mounts

Following the sack  of governor ABBA Yusuf of Kano State by the Election Petition Tribunal,  Kano State Police Command has imposed  enforcement of a 24-hour curfew, beginning from 6pm on Wednesday, 20th September 2023, to 6pm on Thursday, 21st September 2023.

The  Kano State Commissioner of Police Mohammed Usaini Gumel, the order came in response to a directive from the state government.

The measure was to douse the tension  and to  maintain law and order in the state.
Gumel emphasized the importance of preserving law and order in the state. The police have deployed combined security forces throughout the city, covering all corners, entry, and exit points, to ensure strict compliance with the curfew.

He said, “Residents of Kano State are warned that violating this curfew order will have serious consequences. Anyone found in violation will be arrested and made to face the full force of the law.”
