The governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has announced payment of N70million (Seventy Million Naira) as compensations to the families security officers who died or got injured in the line of duty in the State
The governor hinted that the compensation covers officers who fell on the ,one duties since the inception of his administration in May 2019.
Represented by his Chief of Staff , Mr. Tayo Ayinde,the governor stated this at the presentation of Five Million Naira cheque to the family of a Rapid Responses Squad (RRS) officer; Superintendent of Police Oluwatobi Peters who died in active service.
Ayinde explained that the State Government provided the monetary support to comforting the families left behind maintaining that no amount of financial gift can make up for lost lives and the gallantry of the fallen patriots.
He disclosed that medical care were also provided for security operatives who got injured while discharging their duty at the expense of the State Government.
Ayinde added that these gesture is one of Governor Sanwo-Olu’s policy in ensuring the welfare of security personnel for effective performance of their duties in protecting lives and properties in the State which is in line with the THEMES agenda on Security and Good Governance.
He,therefore gave the assurance that the State Government would ensure that the State remain secure and safe with far reaching support to security operatives in the State in 2022 and beyond.
The Permanent Secretary, Office of the Chief of Staff; Mr. Olawale Musa expressed the commitment of the present administration to consistently compensate beneficiaries (Next of Kin) of Police Officers that passed away in active service in the State.
