Meet First Female Neurosurgeon In West Africa, Dr. (Mrs ) Salamat Ahuoiza Aliu

The Ebira born Dr. Mrs Salamat Ahuoiza Aliu, is the First Indigenously Trained & Certified Female Neurosurgeon from West Africa.
Dr. Mrs Salamat Aliu Hails from Okene in Kogi State,
She Studied Medicine & Surgery at the University of Ilorin where she Graduated with Honours in 2004.
She Bagged Several Awards for her Excellent Academic Performance,
Asides Obtaining a Distinction in Pathology,
She was the Best Student in the Professional MBBS Examination,
Best Overall Female Graduating Student,
2nd Best Overall Graduating Student for the Session,
Best Graduating Student for Internal Medicine,
Best Graduating Student for Obstetrics & Gynaecology,
Best Graduating Student in Community Based Experience & Services.
She had her Post Graduate Medical/Surgical Medical Training at the National Hospital Abuja,
After which She Came Out Top in the Sets for the Part 1 Exams of Both the NPMCN- National Post Graduate Medical College of Nigeria &
WACS- West African College of Surgeons in 2009.
She then Proceeded to the Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital Sokoto for her Neurosurgery Residence Training.
In 2014 she Passed the WACS Part 2 Fellowship Examination for Neurosurgery & Became the First Nigerian & West African Female Neurosurgeon, As well as the First Female Fellow of the
West African College of Surgeons.
She Further Underwent a One Year Subspecialty Training in Pediatric Neurosurgery at the Boston Children Hospital,
Massachusetts, USA in 2018 & the Harvard Medical School in 2019.
She Worked at the National Hospital Abuja before Moving to University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital where she Presently Works as a Consultant Neurosurgeon.She is 44 Years Old.
