Thousands of travellers are currently trapped on Lagos-Ibadan expressway today, Monday, 17th November, 2025.
The traffic gridlock has extended from Ibadan tollgate to Ogere tollgate which is halfway between Lagos and Ibadan, a distance of about 60 kilometers.
Professor Ishaq Akintola, Executive Director ,MURIC, in a, statement made available to newsmen urged the security agents to embark on emergency measures to secure the lives of innocent citizens on the expressway.
“We of the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) hereby appeal to the governor of Oyo State, Engr Seyi Makinde, to immediately attend to the protesters.
We warn that thousands of commuters who are currently trapped may be exposed to attacks by criminals in the middle of nowhere. Hundreds may be forced to sleep there in the bush. Governor Makinde should consider our appeal as an S. O. S.
Meanwhile, we appeal to the police commands of Oyo, Ogun and Lagos to embark on emergency measures to secure the lives of innocent citizens on the expressway. Relevant divisions of the Nigerian Army are requested to come to the people’s rescue.
