Niger State Governor, Hon Mohammed Umaru has hinted that his administration’s intentions to creating some desks to address affirmative actions and gender-related issues.
The governor dropped this hint while receiving the Niger state Executives of the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) led by its Chairperson Mrs. Bola Jibogun at the Government House in Minna
Governor Bago also disclosed that no fewer then 100 women would be appointed into cabinet between Wednesday and Sunday.
He said that the appointments would be in fulfillment of his promise to float an inclusive government by carrying women along in the implementation of his policies and programs.While maintaining that his administration has lots of programmes and policies for women and children the governor said that the women who would be appointed would work towards addressing gender-related issues across the state.
“There are a lot of women initiatives, we are creating a lot of desks to address affirmative actions and also gender-related issues in this government and we hope the collaboration will meet the yearnings and aspirations of women”, he said.
In her remarks, the state Secretary of FIDA, Safura Abdulkareem expressed the readiness of the association to support the present administration in the state to ensure success.
