A senior lecturer at the Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, Dr. Matthew Uwuigbe, has been found dead in a hotel room after an alleged encounter with a commercial sex worker.
Sources said the incident occurred in Ekpoma, Esan West Local Government Area of Edo State, where the lecturer had reportedly checked into the hotel with the sex worker.
It was gathered that the lecturer slumped and died during the encounter, prompting the sex worker to raise the alarm which attracted the hotel management and other lodgers.
The matter was subsequently reported to the police, who are said to have commenced investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.
The body of the deceased has reportedly been deposited in a mortuary while investigation continues.
As of press time, the management of Ambrose Alli University and the Edo State Police Command were yet to issue official statements on the incident.
