The Nigeria Union of Journalists, (NUJ) Zone B has honoured the Ekiti State First Lady Erelu Bisi Fayemi in recognition of her invaluable service to humanity, particularly in the areas of gender mainstreaming and women empowerment.
Presenting the award ,the Vice President B- Zone, comrade Ronke Afebioye Samo said that the Union recognized various efforts of Mrs Fayemi in championing the cause of women in the society.
Samo described the First Lady as a Mother who has touched the lives of everyone around her.
” Your impact on Girl Child, Women would not be forgotten in the state, you have indeed spread your wrappers to save many women in Ekiti state.” She stressed.
She lauded wife of the state governor, Mrs Bisi Fayemi on her numerous efforts – instituting various programs and activities at empowering, mentoring,educating and promoting the interest of girl child.
According to her ,the people of Ekiti would never forget her good works in the area of women emancipation, Girl-child Education and various actions taken on Violence against women.
She prayed for her as she bows out of the Government , that Almighty God will continue to keep her and her husband for greater years in life.
In her remarks, the governor’s wife apprehended the union for the recognition promising to always identifies with the union .
Mrs Fayemi expressed confidence that the incoming administration would continue to improve quality of life of the people through various programmes that could positively impact their lives and support the Union.
