Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the security of lives and property with the presentation of newly acquired operational vehicles to security agencies in the state.
The presentation ceremony held on Monday at the Osuntokun Pavilion, Government House Grounds, Ado-Ekiti, where the Governor formally handed over the vehicles to the heads of the various security agencies.
Governor Oyebanji said the gesture was in recognition of the critical role of mobility in security operations and the need to further strengthen the security architecture of the state to rid it of crime and criminality.
He stated that the provision of the vehicles underscores his administration’s determination to equip security agencies with the necessary logistics and operational support required to tackle emerging security challenges.
Charging the security chiefs to justify the investment, the Governor said:
“With the provision of these vehicles, I will want to see increased patrols, strategic visibility, faster response and spontaneous agility on the part of your men. There should be no reasons for excuses, lapses or unprofessional conduct,”
Oyebanji assured that his administration would continue to invest in the safety, welfare and overall wellbeing of residents in line with its Shared Prosperity agenda, stressing that no meaningful development can take place in an atmosphere of insecurity.
He reiterated his administration’s zero-tolerance for criminality and expressed confidence that Ekiti will remain one of the safest states in the country with sustained collaboration between government and security agencies.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Media, Mr. Olayinka Oyebode, had earlier disclosed that the initiative is part of the BAO administration’s sustained investment in security as a critical pillar of development.
Speaking at the event, the Special Adviser to the governor on Security Matters, Brig. Gen. Ebenezer Ogundana(retd) said the administration of Governor Oyebanji is committed to the security of lives and property of the citizens, hence the renewed investment in the security sector.
He declared that following the government’s deliberate efforts and investment, Ekiti was ranked the most peaceful state in the country, adding that the vehicles would enhance the operational efficiency of the security agencies.
