The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, Senator Sharafadeen Alli, has donated a brand-new Toyota Camry to Mrs. Rachael Folake Alamu, the Principal of Community High School, Esiele, Oriire Local Government Area, in recognition of her courage and resilience after surviving a 56-day kidnapping ordeal.
Mrs. Alamu was among the teachers abducted alongside pupils during the May attack on Community High School, Esiele, and Yawota Baptist Nursery and Primary School in Oriire Local Government Area.
During their captivity, the principal was reportedly compelled by the kidnappers to appear in several video recordings used to communicate with the outside world and press demands.
Presenting the vehicle, Alli commended Mrs Alamu for her exceptional bravery, composure and unwavering commitment to the safety and welfare of the abducted pupils throughout the traumatic experience.
He described the donation as a modest token of appreciation for her courage and an expression of solidarity with victims of insecurity.
The senator said he hoped the gesture would aid her recovery and encourage her as she resumes her professional responsibilities.
According to him, teachers who continue to serve under difficult and hazardous conditions deserve the support and appreciation of society.
The pupils and teachers were eventually rescued after spending 56 days in captivity, ending weeks of anxiety for their families, the Oriire community and Oyo State.
