105 years ago, Robert Wadlow was born in a tiny 5-bedroom house in Alton. He grew to a whopping 8 feet and 11.1 inches tall before his death at age 22 in 1940. His life may have been short, but he left a monumental impact in the region. To this day, he is still considered the tallest man on Earth!
