Set Up Panel To Probe Killings In South-East, Punish Offenders – Joe Igbokwe Tells Tinubu

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Lagos State and former Special Adviser on Drainage and Water Resources to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Chief Joe Igbokwe, has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to set up a panel of enquiry to unravel what happened in the South-East in the last 15 years.

Igbokwe, a Nigerian politician, engineer and author who served as General Manager of Lagos State Infrastructure Maintenance and Publicity Secretary of AC, ACN and APC in Lagos, said failure to unravel the truth and punish offenders will lead to a repeat of history.

In a statement released on Monday , the APC chieftain warned South-East leaders that history will repeat itself if justice is not done.

“Now let me drop this here for record purposes: If the leaders in the South East fail to unravel the truth of what happened in Igboland and punish offenders it will happen again. It happened in 1966 to 1970 and we know the consequences. It happened again for almost 15 yrs of Igbo killing Igbo all in the name of the useless Biafra agitation. If we lose our senses again and go back to the days of the locusts nobody will remain in the South East. Only a fool will not learn from history. History is my witness. Case rested!!!” he said.

Recounting his personal experience, Igbokwe disclosed that his country home in Nnewi, Anambra State was destroyed on October 3, 2021.

“The idiots and cultural savages destroyed my home in Nnewi Anambra in October 3 2021. The bandits stormed and killed 3 medical students of Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital Nnewi. From there they moved to the home of the Former Minister of Budget & Planning Dr Chu Okongwu’s and set it ablaze. The former Minister was inside the beautiful home. He died. They moved to the near Federal Road Safety Commission and set it ablaze,” he narrated.

He alleged that thousands were killed unreported in the South-East during the period, describing it as “Igbo killing Igbo.”

“Some foolish and idiots will pretend that nothing happened but the victims are still speaking from the graves. Families in the South East knew what happened to them in more than 15 years. Thousands were killed unreported and we all know this. The graves in the SE are weeping. It was Igbo killing Igbo and we all kept quiet,” he said.

Igbokwe directly accused the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, of pioneering what he described as abominations in the region.

“I want President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to set up a panel of enquiries to unravel what happened in the SE in more than 15yrs and punish the offenders. If offenders are not punished the people’s hearts are skimmed to continue to do wrong. Abominations of unimaginable dimensions were committed in the SE and Nnamdi Kanu pioneered it to the letter. I had a one on one telephone conversation with Nnamdi and asked him for a debate on this senseless and useless Biafra agitation he abused and said I know nothing. The rest is now history,” he added.
