2023 : APC Governors’  Parley  With Wike,Fayose in Portharcourt Unsettles PDP

There is uneasy calm within the ranks of the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party(PDP)as reports of secret meeting of some governors of the ruling All Progressives Congress(APC) with the Rivers State governor, Nyesome Wike surfaced.
The governors of Ekiti ,Ondo and Lagos states,  Kayode Fayemi; Rotimi Akeredolu and Babajide Sanwo-Olu  respectively were sighted having warm embrace with the Rivers governor.
Though, details of the meeting  has not been made public, it is however not connected with the ongoing efforts to woo aggrieved PDP stalwarts into APC.
The three South West governors are believed to be in Port Harcourt for the meeting with Mr Wike as emissaries of the APC  and its presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu.
The former governor of Ekiti ,Ayo Fayose who had declared oorn support for south agenda and Tinubu’s  Presidency was also in attendance.
What further heightened worry in the PDP’s camp is the fact that both Wike and Fayose seemed to have soft spot for Tinubu as none of them had ever spoken against the APC national leader  in public .
The APC is believe to be capitalising on the widening gulf between governor Wike and the PDP Presudential Flagbearer, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.
Wike ,who is  still nursing  his defeat to Atiku  in the PDP Presidential primaries  was said to have been further angered by the failure of the former Vice President to consider him as running mate .

The crisis worsened after Atiku rejected the recommendation of an ad hoc committee of the party and picked Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, as his running mate.

The committee was reported to have recommended Mr Wike for the position, although the party later cllaimed that Mr Wike was only one of three nominees recommended by the committee.

Others in their entourage include the Ekiti State Governor-elect, Biodun Oyebanji; former Ekiti State governor and Peoples Democratic Party chieftain, Ayodele Fayose, among others.
