Rivers State governor, Nyesome Wike opened another can of worms as he accused the embattled national chairman of the People’s Democratic Party(PDP) ,Dr Iyorchia Ayu and its Presidential candidate Alhaji Atiku were not truthful to the members .
The embittered governor alleged that Abubakar, promised to make him(Wike) his running mate hours after winning the party’s ticket at its primaries in Abuja on May 29.
Wike claimed that Atiku insisted that the National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu must go in order for there to be regional balance in the party.
Speaking at a nationwide media chat in Port Harcourt on Friday, Wike, who came second to the former VP told his hosts of how the Waziri Adamawa, later made the same commitment at a meeting between him and four other governors during in London in August.
During the chat conducted by African Independent Television (AIT) TVC, Channels and Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), the governor, also revealed how Atiku began to hedge on the commitment later, first by going back on his words over the issue of nominating him as the running mate, by giving excuses that an ex-General in the Nigerian Army, had rather added two other names – Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State and Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom, stated that the former VP further showed his hand by also reneging on his declaration to cause Ayu’s exit from the position.
But before then, he had given details on how the PDP boss, practically worked against him at the party’s convention, that produced Atiku, adding that he (Ayu), was so determined in his resolve that he even threatened that he would resign his position if he (Wike), eventually won the primaries, adding that he was the one who persuaded other candidates to withdraw for the former VP.
