JUST IN: Nigeria Female Boxer ” Star Girl” Dies

 

A Nigerian female boxer, Blessing Oluwasegun, popularly known as “Star Girl” has died.

Star Girl was a professional boxer with a record of 7 wins and 2 losses, with 4 of her victories coming by way of knockout.

She passed away at a State Specialists Hospital in Akure, after a serious illness.

Blessing, who hailed from Benue State started her boxing career in Akure, Ondo State before moving to Ibadan, Oyo State capital, and recently moved to Lagos to further her boxing career.

However, some boxing federation officials reached out to the deceased’s elder brothers that the boxing family was not fully informed about the severity of her health condition. He also stated that he does not have much connection with the boxing community and was unsure of who to contact within the industry, especially as Blessing was unable to communicate due to the seriousness of her illness.

According to him, Blessing’s body is currently at a mortuary in Akure, and she will be laid to rest this Friday, April 24 in her hometown in Benue state, according elder brother.
